A Ukraine drone has crashed near Zaporizhzhia’s nuclear power plant. Russia’s RIA news agency reported that a Russian officer said Wednesday (5 April) that the chief of the global nuclear watchdog was expected to arrive in Russia for talks about the plant’s security.

Rafael Grossi, head of the International Atomic Energy Agency, was scheduled to travel to Russia’s Kaliningrad area on Wednesday. This is one week after he visited Zaporizhzhia in southern Ukraine, which has been controlled by Russian forces.

A Polish-made drone weighing over 2 kg (4.4 lbs) was reported to have crashed near the plant by a Russian military officer, RIA reports. The news agency didn’t say when.

Grossi has been advocating for a demilitarized zone around Europe’s biggest nuclear facility. This has been repeatedly shelled, and Russia and Ukraine blame each other.
