Austria’s second payment request concerns 54 milestones and 13 targets. It covers reforms that support investment initiatives in the areas of health care, the circular economy and the phase-out of fossil-fuel heating systems. The areas of taxation and permitting procedures for renewables are also covered by the reforms.

In addition, the request covers investments in the areas of health care, improving connectivity through the roll-out of broadband in rural areas, as well as green and digital investments in SMEs. A further section of the Koralm railway, emission-free buses, the repair bonus scheme to promote the repair of electric and electronic equipment and the re- and upskilling of people are also included in the investment areas.

The Commission will now assess the request and will then send its preliminary assessment of Austria’s fulfilment of the milestones and targets required for this payment to the Council’s Economic and Financial Committee.

Austria’s overall Recovery and Resilience Plan will be financed by €3.96bn in grants. You can find more information on Austria’s Recovery and Resilience plan on this page, which features an interactive map of projects financed by the RRF, as well as on the RRF Scoreboard. More information on the process of payment requests under the RRF can be found in this document of questions and answers.
