Netherlands: 5G towers torched as anti-5G sentiment grows

Two 5G telecom towers in Almere, Netherlands were torched over Easter weekend by unknown arsonists. The act of sabotage is just the latest in a series of attacks on 5G towers in what appears to be some sort of campaign to undermine the deployment of the new technology.

The motives for the attacks are still unclear, although many have surmised that the attacks are clearly linked to a conspiracy theories which claim that the Chinese COVID-19 virus is somehow related to the rollout of 5G technology, SCEPTR reports.

As a result of the cell towers being torched, mobile phone connections were lost and emergency services in some regions of the country became unreachable.

Ferdinand Grapperhaus, the Dutch Minister of Justice and Safety, has called the fires “an attack on the emergency services and with that the society.”

Recently, attacks on 5G towers have become more common in the Netherlands and the UK. 5G radio masts have also been torched in Rotterdam, Tilburg, and Deurne.

Presently, there is no evidence whatsoever which suggests that there’s any connection between 5G towers and people becoming sick from the COVID-19 virus.

Despite the facts, anti-5G sentiment continues to grow as a result of conspiracy theories and disinformation that are being propagated over social media networks.
