The Mullahs war-mongering in the Middle East is to contain the uprisings in Iran

Iranian opposition leader Maryam Rajavi has said “the Mullahs war-mongering in the Middle East is to contain the uprisings in Iran. The right policy is to stand up to the regime of executions, terrorism, and warmongering.”

On Wednesday, October 11, at a conference in Paris on the occasion of World Day Against the Death Penalty, members of the French National Assembly condemned the wave of executions that has been taking place in Iran since last year’s nationwide uprising. They called for an end to the policy of appeasement toward the Iranian regime and expressed support for the 10-Point Plan for a free and democratic Iran articulated by Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, the National Council of Resistance of Iran’s designated leader for a future transitional government.

Maryam Rajavi was the keynote speaker of the conference. Scores of cross-party members of the French National Assembly and scores of French dignitaries and politicians took part in the conference, including representatives Cécile Rilhac, André Chassaigne, Philippe Gosselin, former representative Emille Blessig, as well as Dominique Attias, Aude de Thuin,Jean-François Legaret, and Jacques Boutault, former mayors of Paris 1 and Paris 2 Arrondissement, and directors and chairpersons of human rights organizations based in France. Tahir Boumedra also took part in the conference.

Maryam Rajavi pointed out: “According to the report of the UN Secretary-General, 582 people were executed in Iran in 2022, which shows a 75% increase compared to 2021. This year, the number of executions is even higher.” She called particular attention to the fact that nearly 130 members of the Baluch ethnic minority have been hanged this year.

“Why are France and other European democracies still appeasing this murderous regime?” Rajavi asked. “The World Day against the Death Penalty is the day for all humanity to say no to the mullahs.”

Mrs. Rajavi called it a “positive step” that Britain, France, and Germany have decided to maintain missile sanctions against the regime, but she urged the European Troika to also activate trigger mechanism and restore the six UN Security Council resolutions on the regime’s nuclear projects. She called on the French National Assembly to follow suit with the European Parliament and several European national legislatures by including the IRGC on its terrorist list and urged the relevant governments to strengthen the sanctions regime in order to prevent Tehran from accessing European markets and universities which facilitate the production of weapons and means of repression.

The NCRI President-elect stressed, “The world must stand against the mullahs’ warmongering. Instrumentalizing the Palestinian issue is a well-known tactic of this deceitful regime. Today, Khamenei and Raisi want to transform the Iranian people’s uprising and struggle against religious fascism in Iran into a Muslim-Jewish war. By killing innocent civilians, they seek a shield and a cover to contain the uprising, preserve the mullahs’ rule, and evade their downfall.”

Rajavi emphasized, “Khamenei, who needs to create external crises, now more than ever, and is sure of the inaction of the US and Europe, has broken the reins. Therefore, the only right policy is regime change in Iran.”

According the Iranian opposition leader, “The regime’s biggest lie is denying the ability of the Iranian people and Resistance for regime change. Despite severe repression, the Iranian uprising and the unique role of the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (MEK) and Resistance Units demonstrated Iranian society’s capacity to bring down the regime. The trajectory of these developments is trending towards the downfall of religious tyranny. The mullahs cannot stop this trend.”

She urged “the French Parliament and the world to recognize the struggle of the Iranian people to overthrow religious tyranny.”

In her remarks, representative Cécile Rilhac, President of the Parliamentary Committee for a Democratic Iran (CPID), said, “The CPID has gathered the support of a majority of 296 members of the French Parliament for Mrs. Rajavi’s 10-point plan for future Iran. This is to have a State where the death sentence will have no place.”

In his opening speech, representative André Chassaigne, Vice President of CPID, said: “Last June, the majority of members of our parliament, including all five political groups, supported the Iranian Resistance.” Concerning the rise in executions in Iran, Mr. Chassaigne added, “In Iran, the death sentence is more than an inhuman punishment; it is a tool to terrorize an entire population. MEK Resistance Units were the only forces on the ground in Iran to launch 414 actions against the regime during the recent revolts on last year’s uprising anniversary.”

Philippe Gosselin, secretary of the French National Assembly, used his speech to call attention to recent revelations about the Iranian regime’s network of agents trying to influence policies in favor of the regime. He said, “Since 2014, Iran tried to infiltrate official instances in the US and Europe through a network of ‘experts’ called the IEI [Iran Experts Initiative].”

Tahir Boumedra, former Chief of UNAMI Human Rights Office and Representative of the HCHR in Iraq, said: “In the Islamic Republic, the death sentence has always been used to hold the political power.”

Dominique Attias, President of the European Law Society Federation, said: “In Iran today, the death sentence is used like an arm of mass destruction. Iran holds the world record for the execution of women. Women in Iran are shouting, ‘No to the Shah or the mullahs’.”

Jean-François Legaret, former Mayor of Paris 1st Arrondissement, emphasized, “For 40 years, Iran has diffused disinformation against the MEK, saying they are not an alternative. That is because MEK remains on the ground despite all the repression and reveals what goes on in Iran to the world.”

Executions in Iran have seen a significant increase since President Ebrahim Raisi took office as the President in 2021. Raisi was Tehran’s deputy prosecutor in 1988 and served on the "Death Commission" that ordered many of the executions comprising that year’s massacre of 30,000 political prisoners.

Iran has long maintained the world’s highest rate of executions per capita, executing more people in 2022 than the rest of the world combined, excluding China.
