French police came under siege by a mob of around ’50 young people’ during an arrest of a suspected drug dealer this week, according to reports.

The harrowing incident unfolded on Monday afternoon in Limoges, a city in the department of Haute-Vienne.

Officers on patrol in the Beaubreuil district encountered an 18-year-old male in possession of narcotics and initiated arrest proceedings.

While taking the suspect into custody, a massive group of ‘youths’ launched an attack on the police, sparking widespread chaos.

“Violence then ensued on the part of about fifty young people present on the spot. Several projectiles were thrown toward the police officers, injuring three of them,” France Bleu reports.

Some suspects armed with “iron bars and mortars” smashed a patrol vehicle and set it on fire, authorities said.

In response, 60 officers from the Compagnies Républicaines de Sécurité – the French riot police – were deployed to the scene.

“A control operation has been initiated with the aim of restoring the security and public tranquility to which all our fellow citizens are entitled,” officials announced in a press release.

Mob attacks against police officers have become commonplace in France, as Infowars Europe has previously reported.
