Woman With Severe Mental Disability Raped by Illegal Migrant at French Psychiatric Hospital

An illegal migrant staying at a psychiatric hospital was arrested for raping a patient with a ‘severe mental deficiency’ last week in France, according to reports.

The disturbing incident unfolded on Friday at a facility in Évreux, a commune in the department of Eure.

Authorities were called by staffers after they learned a 24-year-old woman had been sexually assaulted in a restroom.

The suspect allegedly entered the victim’s room and led her to bathroom where he undressed her and raped her.

The woman suffers from a ‘severe mental disability’ of unspecified nature.

“The suspect, hospitalized in another wing of the hospital without any particular constraint for his movements, is unfavorably known to the police and justice, and is the subject of an obligation to leave French territory,” TF1 Info reports.

Information about the suspect is limited and his nationality has not been made publicly available.

Migrants are frequently sent to psychiatric facilities after committing crimes in European countries.
